Gone-A-Viking is a solo, one-page, Norse-themed rogue-lite adventure where you lead a team of Vikings to explore strange new lands in search of glory and gold. You only have sixty days to make a name for yourself before the boat sets sail for home, so you better get to raiding!

The standard, one-sheet edition is a pay-what-you-want game.

The Deluxe Edition is three  bucks and comes with 13 pages of different play modes and optional mods (including a guide for how to play using runes!) that you can drop into your game for more fun and more replayability. It also contains standalone maps to augment the rest of the deluxe content.

Added 9/19/21: Due to the game's popularity, I've added additional content for the Deluxe Edition, a 3-page stand-alone mod pack called Loot, Bribe, Farm that adds additional optional mods for Gone-A-Viking.

trying out the base version real quick to see if I want the deluxe version.  I don't see any FAQ or an entry on BGG so trying here in case you see this.  When you roll a die and discover water, is that still a day since you can't travel to that space and you just stay where you are?   I think so, but I'm rolling a ton of 4s on my first try.

That's the way I always play it, definitely, but if you roll a lot of 4s, you can totally fudge it to make it more fun.

Thanks. I ended finally rolling a bunch of 2s and did really well. Fun game

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. :)

First game, 72 gold. I lost half my vikings beating a draugr in a mound, but after that I was able to find two more. Once I had them all equipped with magic swords things became pretty smooth; villages couldn't hurt me so I could just roll them up at will.

It's not clear to me if a Magic Key is used up opening one Golden Chest. The rules imply it isn't,  but I might change that in my next raid; it makes things a little easy.

Oooh-- yes, the Magic Key is supposed to be a 1-use item. I'll put that in the FAQ/Errata in a future update. Thank you!
